Mr. Sorace is a mineral exploration and mining entrepreneur with over 25 years of international business and capital markets experience. Mr. Sorace has financed and led several resource companies with assets in the U.S., Canada and Europe, and has raised over $100M in equity and debt financings for public and private entities. He has been the founder, served as a Director and held CEO positions for numerous companies with extensive experience in development, management and public company governance in the resource and alternative energy sectors. Mr. Sorace is also an officer and director of Desert Star Resources Ltd.
Rob Duncan, BSc MSc
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Duncan brings over 26 years of experience in the mineral exploration business having worked for both major mining companies, including Rio Tinto and Inmet Mining Corporation, as well as junior explorers, such as Rimfire Minerals/Kiska Metals Corporation and Evrim Resources Corporation, where he held senior management positions and was an integral part of generative exploration, project evaluations and joint venture negotiations. Mr. Duncan has conducted exploration throughout the North American Cordillera and Canadian Shield on a wide variety of deposit types including orogenic gold, porphyry copper (gold), VMS, and high sulphidation gold-silver.
Rory Kutluoglu, BSc P.Geo.
Vice President of Exploration
Kutluoglu is a professional geologist with over a decade of exploration experience
in a wide variety of commodities across North America. Mr. Kutluoglu has held
executive management roles in Canadian junior exploration companies spanning VP
Exploration and Business Development. As Exploration Manager for Kaminak Gold
Corp. from 2012 to 2015, he was instrumental in delivering the maiden resource,
positive preliminary economic assessment and positive feasibility study for the
Coffee Gold Project in the Yukon which was acquired by Goldcorp Inc. in 2016
for approximately $520 million. Mr. Kutluoglu obtained his Bachelor of Science
degree in Geology from Lakehead University, is a Professional Geoscientist
registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of
BC, and is a Fellow of the Society of Economic Geologists.
Nikolay Petrov, PhD
Dr. Petrov is an exploration geologist with 16 years of experience at all levels of the mineral exploration project pipeline and across a spectrum of commodities. From 2011 to 2016, Dr. Petrov was a senior geologist for First Quantum Minerals, prior to which he held exploration geologist roles at several major mining companies including Dundee Precious Metals, Newmont Mining and Ivanhoe Mines.
Eva Nakano, MBA P.Geo.
Ms. Nakano has been involved in mineral exploration and mining for over 10 years with major (Anglo American) and mid-tier (B2Gold) producers, and with junior explorers (Chariot Resources, Magma Metals). Her experience spans all phases of exploration, from grassroots to advanced stages, and a range of deposit types including porphyry, epithermal, IOCG, VMS, unconformity uranium, and magmatic sulfides. In her previous role at B2Gold she contributed to project evaluations and resource delineation which led to the successful acquisition of several key projects, advancing the company towards mid-tier status. Additionally, Ms. Nakano has built a strong foundation in financial modelling and business strategy. Ms. Nakano holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Geology and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of British Columbia.
Gavin Cooper, CPA CA
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Cooper is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in all aspects of corporate and financial management. For the past 35 years, Mr. Cooper has been providing strategic and financial advice and corporate administration services, and has held senior positions with a number of public and private companies with local and international operations. He was formerly the CFO of VRB Power Systems Inc., a TSXV listed company involved in the development and production of flow-battery energy storage systems, CEO and a director ofa ship-construction project with a budget in excess of $400 million, Director of Finance & Administration at a shipyard that had employed over 1,000 workers. He currently is CFO and a director of Desert Star Resources Ltd., and acts as CFO, corporate secretary and director of various other TSXV listed companies. He has a Hons. Bachelor of Accounting from the University of South Africa and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.
Leanne Smar, MSc
Ms. Smar graduated in 2009 from Carleton University with a BSc Honours in Earth Sciences, and completed her MSc in Geology in 2013 at The University of British Columbia, with a specialization in structural geology, metamorphic petrology and geochronology. She comes to us with a strong background in detailed structural mapping, having worked in northern Ontario’s granite-greenstone terrains, Labrador’s Central Mineral Belt (uranium exploration), Yukon’s Tombstone intrusive suite (gold exploration), and the Northwest Territories’ Wopmay Orogen. Leanne draws from six seasons of field experience in remote camps, with TSX Venture listed companies, as well as provincial and territorial geological surveys.
John Williamson, BSc P.Geo.
Mr. Williamson is an entrepreneur with more than 30 years of global experience, including 22 in the management, development and governance of public companies conducting worldwide mineral exploration and mining. He has served as Founder, Chairman, President, CEO, CFO, or Director of 20 or more listed companies in Canada and Australia. Throughout his career Mr. Williamson has discovered and/or evaluated numerous projects through to feasibility production and mining. On more than one occasion his team?۪s efforts were recognized for excellence by being named to the TSX Venture 50TM as a ???Top 10 Mining Company?. Mr. Williamson has a Bachelor of Science, Specialization in Geology, (1988) from the University of Alberta, and is a professional geologist registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. He is also a Fellow of the Geological Association of Canada and Member of the Society of Economic Geologists.
Mr. McKeen has over 30 years of legal experience acting for Canadian public companies with an international focus, primarily in the natural resources sector. His practice includes all types of corporate equity and debt financing, mergers and acquisitions, and mining agreements and transactions. A number of his clients have progressed from private start-up companies to publicly-listed emerging companies and are now established businesses trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange and U.S. and European stock exchanges. Mr. McKeen is experienced in the complex issues that cross-border transactions create. Several of his clients have obtained stock exchange listings in the United States or frequently access funding from U.S. institutional investors. The broad geographic scope in which Mr. McKeen?۪s mining clients operate includes 14 countries on 5 continents.
James Yates is an independent businessman with extensive experience in resources and development. Mr. Yates founded Hycroft Resources & Development Corporation, which developed the Crofoot property in Nevada ??? a gold heap leach producer for over 20 years, known as the Hycroft mine. He is a founding director of Alpha Exploration, which developed a uranium deposit and merged with Fission Uranium with a valuation of $189 million in 2013. As a director of Nevada Geothermal over $200 million was raised for the development of a geothermal plant. Mr. Yates has continuously been involved in establishing and financing numerous public companies.
